Carson Anderson, a 16-year-old Grace Christian Academy student and soccer star recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, was presented with a check for $5,000 during the inaugural Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at the Stephens Valley subdivision off Sneed Road, which is now home to its first residents.
Randy and Bob Anderson, father and grandfather to Carson, were with him at the ceremony. According to Emily Winkler, marketing director for Stephens Valley, the money was raised in lieu of ticket sales for the Stephens Valley HomeFest Tour of Homes this past October and will help support the Andersons as they navigate expensive hospital treatments.
Stephens Valley welcomed more than 100 guests to the first-ever event on Monday, December 3. Those who attended enjoyed singing Christmas carols with the Westminster Chapel Choir, sipping warm holiday drinks, trying every kind of Christmas cookie, and settling into the family-oriented community currently forming off Hwy. 100 not far from the Loveless Cafe.
Trey Rochford, vice president of Rochford Realty and Construction, Inc., and a lead developer at Stephens Valley, comments: “Stephens Valley is definitely on Team Carson, and can think of no one more deserving of our HomeFest proceeds. As a father myself, I cannot imagine what his family is going through and keep them all in my prayers. It is a truly beautiful thing to witness our community coming together to help one of our own”
“We are thrilled at the event’s turnout, and we hope to continue this meaningful tradition for many Christmases to come,” Winkler said.
Developers describe Stephens Valley as a nature-centered, family-oriented housing development. Built on land purchased by the Stephens family in the 1930s, the community integrates modern architectural advancements with a classic, small town feel.
The Stephens Valley Welcome Center is located off of Sneed and Pasquo Roads in Williamson County.
