Police locate next of kin, release name of 21-year-old killed in Thursday collision on Hwy. 100

METRO NASHVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

Police announced just after 11 a.m. Friday that they had located the next-of-kin, and identified the man killed Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 100 at Harpeth Bend Drive as Garrett Plye, 21, of West Nashville.

The collision occurred at 4:40 p.m. and involved a 2010 Honda Accord, driven by the victim, and a 2004 Toyota Sequoia SUV driven by Emma Warren, 23, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The Sequoia was traveling west on Highway 100 approaching Harpeth Bend Drive when the Accord attempted to turn left from Harpeth Bend Drive onto Highway 100.  It pulled in front of the Sequoia, which struck the Accord on the driver’s side.  The driver of the Accord died at the scene.  Warren was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of non-critical injuries.

There were no signs of drug or alcohol involvement at the scene.  The preliminary contributing factor appears to be failure to yield the right of way on the part of the Honda driver.
