Mrs. Elfie Anderson Lankford, age 90, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Brookdale of Belle Meade.
A native of Fairview, she was the daughter of Monroe and Mary Spicer Anderson, and was the widow of Alvin Lankford, who preceded her in death in 2014.
Mrs. Lankford will be remembered for her love and caring spirit toward others. The mother of three boys, she was always active and involved in their care and upbringing. She was a dedicated member of the West Nashville Heights Church of Christ as long as her health allowed, and served as a teacher’s aide to special education students at the Calbert Special Education School.
Always active and athletic, Mrs. Lankford continued skiing, golfing and playing tennis well into her 70’s and 80’s. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Darrell in 2011; and seven siblings: Larry, Bryce, Gene, Junior, Wayne, Novaline and Viva.
She is survived by two sons: Don Lankford of Nolensville and Dave (Jackie) Lankford of Houston, TX; 4 brothers: Thomas Anderson of Nashville, James Anderson of White Bluff, Ned Anderson of Fairview and Dillon Anderson of Ashland City; 4 sisters: Clemmie Buttrey of Fairview, Vera Mae Cook of Fairview, Barbara Hudgins of Fairview and Phyllis Warren of Dickson; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granchildren.
The family will gather with friends for visitation on Thursday, February 16 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., and again on Friday, February 17 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 17 in the chapel of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
