Dr. Charles Ernest “Chug” Morton III, age 70 of Nashville, Tennessee.
He was born in Franklin to the late Charlie and Emma Morton and was a graduate of Battle Ground Academy, Auburn University and the University of Tennessee Medical School at Memphis.
Chug filled each and every unforgiving minute with 60 seconds of distance run, living his life to the fullest to the end, and serving a purpose larger than himself. With the most skilled of surgeon’s hands, he was able to fulfill his passion to help, heal, save, and love. For this reason, Chug will be missed dearly by his loved ones, patients and colleagues.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Morton of Nashville, Tennessee; sons, Charles E. “Chas” IV (Christa) Morton of Franklin, Tennessee, and Robert G. “Bert”
(Julia) Morton of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Kelly (Colin) Walsh of Switzerland; brother, Russell (Pam) Farnsworth of Franklin, Tennessee; grandchildren, Chase and Lily Morton, Helen and Emma Jane Morton, Jake, Zachary and Macie Walsh.
Memorial services will be conducted beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Fourth Ave. Church of Christ, 117 4th Ave., N. Franklin, TN 37064. Jim Taylor and Bishop Joe Pennel will officiate. Visitation is 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at Woodmont Hills Church of Christ, 3710 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37204.
