On Saturday, July 21. 2018, about 50 friends from several Middle Tennessee communities showed up to a celebration off the new Tennessee State Museum and ended up cheering after a presentation by Bonnie Edwards of Hendersonville.
The party was dedicated to raising memberships for the Tennessee State Museum Foundation, and focusing on the new location of the museum on the corner of Jefferson Street and Rosa Parks Avenue at the end of the Farmers Market on the Bicentennial Mall. The 137,000-square-foot building will open this October.
The Tennessee State Museum Foundation raised money and participated in the planning of the new museum location. It also supports the museum in many ways, including artifact acquisition, flag conservation such as the work on Civil War battle flags, and general support for the operational activities of the foundation.
